Baseball Recap: Plano Triumphs

Plano took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Johnsburg, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Reapers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Skyhawks a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Reapers have posted since April 1st.

Not much got past Quentin Santoria, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Johnsburg off the board. Santoria also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Plano is 7-2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-16 otherwise.

At the plate, Plano secured the win behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Brandon Ramos, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Plano's victory bumped their record up to 13-18-1. As for Johnsburg, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-10.

Coming up, Plano will square off against Streator at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Johnsburg, they will face off against Grant Community at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
