Basketball Recap: Ellwood City Wolverine vs. Mohawk Area Warriors
If the Ellwood City Wolverine were feeling good off their 60-31 takedown of the Riverside Panthers last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ellwood City took a 56-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Ellwood City was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Ellwood City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Claire Noble, who scored 16 points, and Kayla Jones who scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Caitlin Kreitzer, who scored nine points.
Ellwood City's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Mohawk Area, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ellwood City will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mohawk Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
