Preview: Jenkintown Drakes vs. MAST Community Charter Panthers
Jenkintown has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the MAST Community Charter Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Jenkintown is ranked 451st, while MAST Community Charter is ranked 460th).
Last Friday, Jenkintown didn't have too much trouble with Dock Mennonite on the road as they won 43-24. The victory was just what Jenkintown needed coming off of a 42-21 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, MAST Community Charter's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 50-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of New Foundations. The contest was a 23-23 toss-up at halftime, but MAST Community Charter was outscored by New Foundations in the second.
Despite the loss, MAST Community Charter had strong showings from Rylie Fitzsimmons, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds, and Kyleigh Murphy, who scored 14 points along with six assists and two steals. Fitzsimmons hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tierney Hamilton, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Jenkintown's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-7. As for MAST Community Charter, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
