Basketball Game Preview: Owen J. Roberts Wildcats vs. Methacton Warriors

Owen J. Roberts is 0-10 against Methacton since January of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Owen J. Roberts Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Methacton Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with nine losses in a row, Owen J. Roberts turned things around against Pottstown on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Trojans, sneaking past 37-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted against the Trojans since January 10, 2017.

Meanwhile, Methacton strolled past Pope John Paul II with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 59-44.

Owen J. Roberts better keep an eye on Abby Arnold. She was instrumental in Methacton's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards. Arnold's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Wolf, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds.

Methacton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Methacton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Owen J. Roberts, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12.

Owen J. Roberts was taken down by Methacton 55-10 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Owen J. Roberts was down 31-7.
