Basketball Recap: Eastlake's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Peninsula, Eastlake was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They skirted past the Sage Creek Bobcats 34-31. The victory was some much needed relief for the Titans as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Eastlake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauren Villaruel led the charge by putting up six points. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Pamintuan, who posted four points and nine rebounds.

Eastlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Eastlake's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-11. As for Sage Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Eastlake has the luxury of staying home for another game and will welcome O'Farrell Charter at 9:00 a.m. on Monday. As for Sage Creek, they will head out to square off against Canyon Hills at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
