Recap: Steele Canyon Cougars vs. Hoover Cardinals
The Steele Canyon Cougars waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They snuck past Hoover with a 50-46 win. Given Steele Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Hoover is ranked 723rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Brianda Benitez, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and six assists. She hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadie Bowers, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Steele Canyon's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Steele Canyon and West Hills will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Hoover, Hoover and High Tech SD will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully High Tech SD focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
