Basketball Recap: Santa Fe Christian Comes Up Short

Santa Fe Christian suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2024 on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Torrey Pines Falcons and fell 68-39. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-17.

Santa Fe Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jennifer Stanion, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 boards. Another player making a difference was Piper Lenihan, who posted 19 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Santa Fe Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Torrey Pines' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lily Oliva, who went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Tal, who scored nine points and three steals.
