Softball Recap: Athens Christian Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Athens Christian was handed an 11-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the John Milledge Academy Trojans 3-1.

Ellianna Christian spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Athens Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maggie Whitlock, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Whitlock has posted since back in September of 2024. Bentley Carter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Athens Christian's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for John Milledge Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

Coming up, Athens Christian will welcome Bethlehem Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for John Milledge Academy, they will face off against Stratford Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
