Soccer Game Preview: Richwoods vs. Dunlap

The Richwoods Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Dunlap Eagles at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Richwoods has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Dunlap will arrive with five straight victories.

Richwoods managed to keep up with Limestone until halftime on Saturday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Knights came up short against the Rockets, falling 3-0. That's two games in a row now that Richwoods have lost by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, Dunlap was able to grind out a solid win over Peoria Christian on Thursday, taking the game 4-2. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Dunlap's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Peoria Christian are ranked 66th).

Dunlap's victory bumped their record up to 15-2-2. As for Richwoods, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8-2.

Richwoods couldn't quite get it done against Dunlap when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
