Football Recap: Eyzik Chavez Leads Valley's Defense on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Highland, Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They managed a 7-3 victory over the Capital Jaguars. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Jaguars, too.

Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Eyzik Chavez, Gabriel Gonzales, and Mateo Medina picked up one apiece. Chavez also made ten total tackles, which is notable because Valley is 2-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 0-4 otherwise.

Valley's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. As for Capital, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Valley and Capital will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Vikings see the field they'll take on Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on the 16th. As for Capital, their break will end when they face Miyamura at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
