Recap: Bella Vista Broncos vs. Yuba City Honkers
The Bella Vista Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell just short of Yuba City by a score of 39-37. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bella Vista in their matchups with Yuba City: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Bella Vista still got an impressive performance from Ellie Thome, who scored 19 points along with nine steals. That was a full 51.4% of Bella Vista's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Eva Jensen, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Bella Vista smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Yuba City only pulled down eight offensive rebounds.
Yuba City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josie Carrick, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Lali Cortez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Bella Vista has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season. As for Yuba City, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bella Vista will take on Roseville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Roseville has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28. As for Yuba City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodcreek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Woodcreek presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Yuba City in California (Woodcreek is ranked 207th, while Yuba City is ranked 699th).
