Baseball Recap: South Atlanta Takes a Loss

South Atlanta extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 7-10 in the process. They came up short against the Therrell Panthers, falling 15-5. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Mekhi Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. South Atlanta is 3-1 when Smith posts two or more runs, but 4-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamario White, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

As for Therrell, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. They haven't had any issues with South Atlanta recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

On Therrell's side, they got a massive performance out of Chase Gray, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. What's more, Gray posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Traveon Banks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

As of now, neither South Atlanta nor Therrell have any future games scheduled.
