Baseball Recap: Vassar Takes a Loss

Vassar extended their losing streak to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 1-18. They came up short against the Millington Cardinals, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Friday.

As for Millington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-12. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.

For Millington's part, Garret Woodward made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Woodward was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brandon Dickie was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Lucas Fluty was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Vassar will take on Akron-Fairgrove at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Millington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Reese at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
