Softball Recap: Windsor Starts Season with Victory Against Greeley West

Windsor had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Greeley West Spartans. The Wizards have beaten the Spartans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Spartans has come to flipping the script.

Jenna McGinnis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McGinnis was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kylie Smith was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Wagner, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Windsor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeley West only posted an OBP of .308.

Windsor wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-17 win against Discovery Canyon on the 22nd. As for Greeley West, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-4 victory against Sterling on the 22nd.
