Basketball Recap: Linfield Christian Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After losing to Aquinas the last time they met, Linfield Christian decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Linfield Christian Lions came out on top against the Aquinas Falcons by a score of 51-40 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Linfield Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Johnson out in front who posted 17 points in addition to seven steals and five assists. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 17 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charli Calas, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards.

Linfield Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Aquinas' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jordyn Williams, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards, and Vanessa Lear, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Williams is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

Linfield Christian's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-12. As for Aquinas, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linfield Christian will venture away from home to challenge Woodcrest Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 21st. As for Aquinas, it'll be Battle of the Birds when the Aquinas Falcons duke it out with the Arrowhead Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
