Soccer Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 6-1 to the Normal University Pioneers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Centennial of the 5-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Their goal came courtesy of Ryan Callejas-Perez, which was the first he's scored this season.

Centennial has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for Normal University, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season.

Centennial will square off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Normal University, they will challenge Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Normal University's defense better be ready for this one: Jacksonville have averaged an impressive 3.7 goals per game this season.
