Basketball Recap: El Cajon Valley Finds Playoff Glory Versus Rock Academy

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only El Cajon Valley walked away with it. They took down the Rock Academy Warriors 60-41 on Tuesday. The victory was nothing new for the Braves as they're now sitting on five straight.

El Cajon Valley found their leader in sophomore McKinley Morgan, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morgan has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Onnamarie Miller, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thereza Horugavye, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. Nevaeha Noguera was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

El Cajon Valley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points over those games. As for Rock Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Coming up, El Cajon Valley will host Canyon Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. El Cajon Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.3 points per game this season. Rock Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
