Prairie View took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Westminster, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunderhawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Wolves on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunderhawks have posted since August 30th.

Viviana Saucedo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Saucedo was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Shelby Ortiz was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Aliciana Saucedo, who went 2-for-5 with two runs.

Prairie View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Prairie View has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. As for Westminster, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Prairie View will face off against Boulder at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.33 runs per game on average), something the Thunderhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Westminster, they will take on Riverdale Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on the 8th.
