Basketball Game Preview: Lick-Wilmerding Tigers vs. University Red Devils

The Lick-Wilmerding Tigers will face off against the University Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

University will be up against a hot Lick-Wilmerding team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Lick-Wilmerding was the clear victor by a 58-37 margin over Marin Academy on Thursday. With the Tigers ahead 40-13 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Meanwhile, University came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Cubs 60-18. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Cubs are ranked 946th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lick-Wilmerding is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for University, they pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
