Football Recap: Trenton Schartz's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ellis over Hoxie

Ellis extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-3. The match between the Railroaders and the Hoxie Indians didn't end well, with the Railroaders falling 46-32. The Railroaders lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 54-8 score last time.

Several Railroaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trenton Schartz, who threw for 286 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 64 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Carson Schartz, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Hoxie's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their six-point performance the contest before.

Chase Meyer went supernova, rushing for 120 yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 128 yards and two touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Mat Bretz was another key player, rushing for 98 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.
