Basketball Recap: Purdue Polytechnic Gets the Win

Purdue Polytechnic lost to Monrovia back in January of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Techies walked away with a 65-53 win over the Bulldogs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Techies.

Despite the defeat, Monrovia saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Zoie Walls dropped a double-double with 26 points and 12 boards. Walls has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Allie tallent was another key player, going 6-for-13 to rack up 13 points.

Purdue Polytechnic's victory bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Monrovia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Purdue Polytechnic will venture away from home to square off against Tindley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Techies' defense better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 56.5 points per game this season. As for Monrovia, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southmont at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' defense better be ready for this one: the Mounties have averaged an impressive 53.9 points per game this season.
