Baseball Game Preview: East Hall Vikings vs. Cherokee Bluff Bears

East Hall hasn't had much luck against Cherokee Bluff recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The East Hall Vikings will challenge the Cherokee Bluff Bears at 5:00 p.m.

East Hall is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 7-1 to Cherokee Bluff.

For Cherokee Bluff's part, Gabe Gowder tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gowder has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jordan Wilkerson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Ethan England was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cherokee Bluff, bringing their record for this year to 8-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Hall, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
