Football Recap: South Western Comes Up Short

South Western played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Central York Panthers, falling 56-17. The Mustangs have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

South Western lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jacob Graham, who picked up 174 receiving yards and one score. His longest reception was for an incredible 79 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Sullivan, who threw for 243 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.2 yards per attempt.

Leading Central York to victory were Brooklyn Nace and Legend Johnson. Nace threw for 269 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, while Johnson rushed for 181 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Those 181 rushing yards gave Johnson a new career-high. Brendyn Smith was in the mix too, providing Central York with three TDs.

South Western now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Central York, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Western will square off against Red Lion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Central York, they will face off against Dallastown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
