Newman Central Catholic entered their tilt with Rockridge on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Rockets. This was payback for the Comets, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Newman Central Catholic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-19, 25-21.

Isabella Lanning paced Newman Central Catholic's offense, picking up 16 kills. Lanning got some help from Brooklyn Smith and her 33 assists. Lauren McClain controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Newman Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 16-18. As for Rockridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-20 record this season.
