Elk Grove and Wheeling are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2016, but likely not for long. The Grenadiers will challenge the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wheeling took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Elk Grove, who comes in off a win.

Elk Grove is headed into the contest having not lost since September 22 and will look to keep things rolling. They put the hurt on Elgin with a sharp 4-1 win on Saturday. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Elk Grove considering their one-goal performance the match before.

They hit Elgin with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alexis Jimenez (2), Nery Gomez, and Ramin Echi.

Meanwhile, Wheeling didn't have quite enough to beat Schaumburg on Thursday and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, Wheeling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 247th, while Schaumburg are ranked 68th).

Elk Grove's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Wheeling, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9-3 record this season.

Elk Grove beat Wheeling by a goal when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 2-1. Do the Grenadiers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
