Baseball Recap: Jay County Comes Up Short

Jay County and Yorktown squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Jay County had to settle for second. They fell 11-7 to the Tigers. The Patriots have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Gavin Byrum was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Carter Fugiett, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

Jay County's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Yorktown, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-15.

Jay County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Yorktown, they will take on Connersville at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Spartans have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
