Baseball Game Preview: Schaumburg Saxons vs. Buffalo Grove Bison

For the second straight game, Schaumburg will face off against Buffalo Grove. The Saxons will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Bison at 4:45 p.m.

Schaumburg couldn't beat Buffalo Grove on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Saxons fell just short of the Bison by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Saxons have lost by just one run.

For Buffalo Grove's part, Tyler Campbell looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Campbell posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, Buffalo Grove's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Drew Carrison, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Carrison is becoming a predictor of the Bison's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-14 when he doesn't). Another was Andrew Lee, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Schaumburg and nudges their season record down to 11-9. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only one runs. As for Buffalo Grove, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-14.
