Baseball Recap: Osborne Takes a Loss

If Osborne was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of Mt. Zion last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell just short of the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Joshua Tattershall made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. He has become a key player for Osborne: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least one home run, but 4-15 otherwise. Cedric Gorman also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Osborne has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-18.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Osborne will host Campbell at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Pebblebrook at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
