Football Game Preview: South Pontotoc Cougars vs. Booneville Blue Devils + How To Watch

The South Pontotoc Cougars will challenge the Booneville Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Pontotoc has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight defeats, while Booneville will come in with three straight wins.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between South Pontotoc and North Pontotoc, and North Pontotoc kept the tradition alive. The Cougars were dealt a 63-22 loss at the hands of the Vikings on Friday. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-22.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Booneville and Alcorn Central meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Blue Devils enjoyed a cozy 42-28 victory over the Bears.

South Pontotoc better focus on containing Tony Ogden and Jack Sandlin as the pair were huge in Booneville's win. Ogden gained 179 total yards and three touchdowns, while Sandlin threw for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Ogden got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 74 yards. Porter Tapp also helped with two TDs in total.

Booneville didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Alcorn Central to a completion percentage of just 42.4%. The Blue Devils hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.61 or higher in four consecutive games.

Booneville's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for South Pontotoc, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
