Football Game Preview: Texico Wolverines vs. Eunice Cardinals

Two dominant signal callers in Cross Figg and Elijah Melancon are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Texico Wolverines will take on the Eunice Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Texico will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.

Texico is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 51-7 victory over Loving. The win continues a trend for the Wolverines in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won seven in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Texico to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaheim Moses, who rushed for 74 yards and one score on only eight carries. Those 74 rushing yards gave Moses a new career-high. Nate Autrey also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Texico was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 263 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loving only rushed for 102.

Meanwhile, after only eight points in their last matchup, Eunice made sure to put some points up on the board against Loving last Friday. The Cardinals blew past the Falcons 56-6. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 21 points or more this season.

Eunice's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Texico, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.

Texico beat Eunice 36-27 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Melancon, who threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns.
