Softball Recap: Sturgeon Takes a Loss

If Sturgeon was riding high fresh off their 20-5 takedown of Wellsville-Middletown on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sturgeon took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harrisburg on Wednesday. Sturgeon was not able to make up for their loss to Harrisburg from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Sturgeon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Sturgeon has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5-1 record this season. As for Harrisburg, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sturgeon will square off against Paris at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Coyotes' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Harrisburg, they will challenge Northeast at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.7, the Bearcats 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
