Basketball Recap: Roosevelt Has No Trouble Against Hesperia

Roosevelt's tournament run continued when they took on Hesperia on Saturday. Everything went the Roosevelt Mustangs' way against the Hesperia Scorpions as the Roosevelt Mustangs made off with a 60-37 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Hesperia still got an impressive performance from Berlynn Miramontes, who posted 15 points. Miramontes has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Annabel Sanchez, who had four points and 13 rebounds.

The win made it two in a row for Roosevelt and bumps their season record up to 14-2. As for Hesperia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Roosevelt will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fairmont Prep at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Hesperia will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Claremont at 4:30 p.m. on December 26th.
