Baseball Game Preview: Wilkinson County Warriors vs. Johnson County Trojans

For the second straight game, Wilkinson County will face off against Johnson County. The Warriors will head out to challenge the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilkinson County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with five straight losses, while Johnson County will come in with six straight wins.

Wilkinson County came up short against Johnson County on Thursday, falling 15-2.

For Johnson County's part, S. Newsome looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Newsome has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Johnson County got a massive performance out of O. Wilcher, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two hits gave Wilcher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of W. Peeples, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4.

Johnson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Johnson County's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wilkinson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12-1.
