Baseball Recap: Deerfield-Windsor Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Deerfield-Windsor hadn't done well against Tiftarea Academy recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Panthers 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Panthers on Tuesday, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Collins Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brantley Michlig, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabe Daniel, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Deerfield-Windsor pushed their record up to 13-4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Tiftarea Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Looking ahead, Deerfield-Windsor will square off against Southwest Georgia Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.5, the Warriors 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tiftarea Academy, they will take on Southland Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.28 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
