Basketball Recap: Kaia Diederichs' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Colfax over Archbishop Riordan

Colfax saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 63-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop Riordan Crusaders.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaia Diederichs, who went 8 of 13 on her way to 19 points in addition to six boards and six steals. Diederichs is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Juliette James, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Colfax smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 29 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Archbishop Riordan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tallyah Nasol out in front who posted 24 points. Another player making a difference was Maxine Sutisna, who had 16 points.

Colfax now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Archbishop Riordan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Colfax didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-44 victory against Rocklin on the 11th. As for Archbishop Riordan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-47 win against Los Gatos on the 9th.
