Softball Recap: Walnut Grove Takes a Loss

Walnut Grove blew Wheatland out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Wheatland got their revenge. The Tigers fell just short of the Mules by a score of 18-16. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (13), the Tigers still had to take the loss.

K Henry stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of S Loehr, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

The loss snapped Walnut Grove's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record. As for Wheatland, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walnut Grove will welcome Nevada at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Nevada has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.4 runs per game on average), something Walnut Grove will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wheatland, they will host Weaubleau at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
