Football Game Preview: Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs vs. Fort Bend Hightower Hurricanes + Official Tickets

Fort Bend Austin hasn't had much luck against Fort Bend Hightower recently, but that could start to change on Friday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. Fort Bend Austin has given up an average of 46.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fort Bend Austin came up short against Fort Bend Travis two weeks ago, falling 44-24. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 704th, while the Tigers are ranked 195th).

Fort Bend Austin's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trent McCoy, who rushed for 151 yards and one score, and Jeremiah Hadnot, who rushed for 79 yards and one TD. McCoy's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 138 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bend Hightower). They breezed past Fort Bend Clements to the tune of 63-14 last Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Hurricanes in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won seven in a row.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fort Bend Hightower's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Fort Bend Hightower's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Fort Bend Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
