Basketball Game Preview: Pender Pendragons vs. Oakland-Craig Knights

The Pender Pendragons will head out to take on the Oakland-Craig Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Oakland-Craig will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Pender extended their winning streak to 13 on Friday. The Pendragons blew past Tekamah-Herman 76-5. The Pendragons pushed the score to 66-3 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had no chance of recovering from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pender to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hadley Walsh, who went 7-for-9 to rack up 15 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds. What's more, Walsh also posted a 78% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Dolliver, who shot 71% from the field en route to 15 points along with six boards and five assists.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Pender was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tekamah-Herman only posted one.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Oakland-Craig's strategy against Clarkson/Leigh on Tuesday. The Knights enjoyed a cozy 53-35 win over the Patriots. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won three in a row.

Pender's record is now 2-0. As for Oakland-Craig, their record now sits at an identical 2-0.

Pender didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Oakland-Craig when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pendragons since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
