Baseball Recap: Duluth East Comes Up Short

Duluth East's last matchup with Blaine could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Friday. The Greyhounds came up short against the Bengals, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Greyhounds have suffered since May 28, 2025.

Colby Hunter was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Hunter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Hunter wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Max Linn, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Jackson Spoden was another, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Duluth East and nudges their season record down to 7-10. As for Blaine, they pushed their record up to 8-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duluth East will square off against Spring Lake Park at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Blaine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
