Softball Game Preview: Palmer Ridge Bears vs. Ponderosa Mustangs

Palmer Ridge is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Ponderosa is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bears will welcome the Mustangs at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Palmer Ridge picked up another tournament win on Friday. They put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 18-3 win. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly 15 runs.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa got the win against Westminster on Friday by a conclusive 7-1.

Joey Qualteri spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ponderosa let Avery Britt and Campbell Trombley run wild. Britt went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Trombley went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Ponderosa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westminster struck out seven times.

Palmer Ridge's victory bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Ponderosa, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
