Basketball Recap: St. Bonaventure Starts Season with Victory at Home

St. Bonaventure took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Van Nuys Wolves 69-29. With the Seraphs ahead 39-12 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

St. Bonaventure's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Adam Ayala, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. What's more, Ayala posted three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Damien Villacis, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Van Nuys is on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Bonaventure will welcome Righetti at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Van Nuys, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Sherman Oaks CES at 4:00 p.m. on December 1.
