Football Recap: Dunbar Takes a Loss

After soaring to 54 points the game before, Dunbar was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They received a blow as they fell 23-6 to Godley. The game marked Dunbar's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Demetri Lawson threw for 58 yards on two of nine attempts. Detrick James was his top target, picking up 59 receiving yards. On the ground, Kamron Lloyd rushed for 85 yards.

It was another big night for Adam Pempsell, who rushed for 271 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry for Godley. Pempsell has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

Dunbar has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Godley, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.

That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lloyd and Kaden Grim. Meanwhile, Godley is set to challenge their familiar foe Venus at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st.
