Baseball Recap: North Murray's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

North Murray had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Murray County Indians 3-1. The Mountaineers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians on Tuesday, too.

Leonardo Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Murray is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-12 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Anthony Skojac, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of North Murray's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jayden Scott, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

North Murray's win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 3-13. As for Murray County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

North Murray will have a chance to go back-to-back against Murray County: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
