Basketball Recap: Sharon Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Sharon can now relate to. They took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hickory Hornets. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, with their most recent loss being a 57-33 defeat last Monday.

Hickory's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Garrett, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards. Garrett continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Roberts, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Sharon is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14. As for Hickory, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season.

Sharon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hickory, they will take on Harbor Creek at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
