High school football rankings: Bishop Gorman headlines Nevada Preseason MaxPreps Top 25

Gaels enter the season ranked No. 2 nationally behind All-American quarterback Micah Alejado.

The 2023 high school football season in Nevada kicks off later this month and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Defending Class 5A state champion Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) owns the No. 1 spot in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.

Bishop Gorman won its 19th state title in 2022, beating teams from Arizona, Georgia, Hawaii and Utah on the way to a 14-1 record and No. 4 final national ranking.

Back to lead the charge for the Gaels will be senior quarterback Micah Alejado, who threw for 3,575 yards and 54 touchdowns en route to MaxPreps National Junior of the Year honors.

In addition to Bishop Gorman, other defending state champions include Silverado (Las Vegas) in Class 4A, Truckee (Calif.) in Class 3A, The Meadows School (Las Vegas) in Class 2A and Pahranagat Valley (Alamo) in Class 1A.

Rankings are computer-generated, factoring in past results and adjustments such as returners and statistical data when available.
