Softball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Comes Up Short

Niwot hit Montezuma-Cortez with a 12-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 14-7 to the Cougars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 16-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

AnnaLisa Abeyta was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Montezuma-Cortez and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Niwot, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Coincidentally, Montezuma-Cortez and Niwot will both be playing Mullen the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Cougars will play them later in the day, at 3:00 p.m.
