Basketball Recap: Sonora Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Sonora duked it out withEscalon on Tuesday. The Sonora Wildcats walked away with a 41-33 win over the Escalon Cougars. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 48-27 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Isabella Ahrens was the offensive standout of the match as she posted 16 points. Kylie Serva was another key player, putting up eight points.

Despite the loss, Escalon still got an impressive performance from Aiden Hohenwarter, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Hohenwarter has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayana Cocio, who put up six points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Sonora has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Escalon, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Sonora didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 37-35 loss against Orestimba on the 10th. As for Escalon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 45-24 win against Hilmar on the 10th.
