Basketball Recap: Coleville Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mineral County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coleville). They breezed by the Mineral County Serpents to the tune of 60-16 on Tuesday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Leading Coleville to victory were Kenna Lange and Lilly Couture. Lange dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Couture dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Lange has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashley Tovar, who posted eight points and four steals.

Coleville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matches.

Mineral County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Raeane Johnson, who had four points along with six boards and four steals, and Aveline Blinco, who earned five points.

Coleville's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Mineral County, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Coleville will venture away from home to square off against Virginia City at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Mineral County, they and Sage Ridge will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played.
