Given Palm Desert's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 528th, while Big Bear is ranked 1127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Palm Desert found their leader in underclassman Katelyn Gallagher, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 13 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Gallagher has scored at least 25% of Palm Desert's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Tethal, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Palm Desert is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Big Bear, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Desert will take on Xavier Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Xavier Prep will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Big Bear, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Marino at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. San Marino will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
