Softball Recap: Mullen's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Mullen's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Vista PEAK Prep Bison 10-9. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Mazie Jackson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in August. Kory Abbott was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Mullen hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

The victory snapped Mullen's losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-9 record. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Mullen will square off against Cherokee Trail at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will face off against Denver North at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bison's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season.
